Race to the finish for the Trojans

Hockey Net-Puck

The SAIT Trojans women’s hockey team have been slow starters all season long.

They didn’t reach 5 wins on the season until Mid-November, and in game they tend to go through the motions until a period or more is already in the books before cranking up the intensity.

The best chance to stock pile points will be this weekend when they take on Olds College, currently the lowest seeded team in the ACAC.

With 6 games to go in the season, the race is on to see who will finish as the top two seeds in the division and with series with Grant MacEwan and red deer still the come, the Trojans will control their own destiny.

SAIT Students getting loud for Mental Awareness

sait300Student athletes and staff members at SAIT Polytechnic launched their second annual, “Make Some Noise For Mental Health” Campaign Tuesday with the hopes of ending the stigma against mental illnesses.

Hundreds of people banded together and marched across campus in a mobile parade to encourage openmindedness and better promote resources to students in need.

What started with an idea last year by Trojans Athletics Communications Director, Billie-Rae Busby has since expanded to all 17 schools in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC).

Students can participate in activities all week including a DJ spin on Wednesday and a DJ yoga event on Thursday.

The campaign wraps up this weekend where a special set of volleyball, hockey, and basketball games will get underway with free admission for all SAIT Students.
