“Who would’ve thought Calgarians would be able to get on the real green this early in the season?
Fox Hollow golf course in northeast Calgary has been open since mid-February and hasn’t looked back.
Assitant Golf Pro, Bryce Dancer, says this is the earliest golfers have been able to play for a consistent period of time.
Dancer recalls Fox Hollow being open on Christmas Day one year, but having to close-up shop for the rest of the winter months due to snowfall.
Head Golf Pro, Greg Griffith, is hoping this El Nino weather will push their season further into the fall months.
He says due to the economic downturn they were a little wary to open up so soon, but being the only course open has worked in their favour.
The course is still operating on temporary greens, hoping to get their permanent greens open as soon as the nights stay consistently above freezing.”
