CALGARY SEES ITS THIRD HOMICIDE

Officers were called to the 4600 block of Maryvale Drive N.E. Tueday at around 6:30 p.m. after witnesses reported hearing gunfire. When they arrived they found 22-year-old victim, Emmanuel Keror, dead at The scene.

Police said that Keror was known them and was part of group with a history of violence, property and drug-related incidents.

Investigators suggest the shooting was targeted and may be related to a past conflict involving the September 2012 homicide of Phillip Salviu Anny. The 28-year-old was found shot to death in the community of Applewood Park after what is believed to have been a drug deal.

Witnesses told police the shooters fled in a maroon pickup truck. Soon after, officers located the vehicle which had been abandoned in the Bowness area.

Police believe the suspects attended several addresses after the incident. Officers are working to obtain warrants to search those homes and are still looking for surveillance video that may help in the investigation.

Both suspects are currently in custody for questioning. Their names and details of their charges will be released once charges have been formally laid.
