The 1 year promise of funding from the federal government for Syrian refugees has come to an end.
However, a Calgary organization is here to help.
The Centre for Newcomers is offering work training and life skills for refugees from 15 to 30 years old.
It doesn’t matter how much or little time you’ve been in Calgary for this organization to help.
In fact, one of the young men enrolled in the ‘Youth Possibilities’ Program has been in the city for less than a week.
According to the organization, there is a large number of Syrians coming from an agricultural background that are willing to go back into that industry, and are willing to learn more up to date skill-sets required for the industry.
Thirty five thousand refugees fleeing violence in Syria have been welcomed to Canada in the last year.
