Sexual-Abuse Allegations Have Lead to the Suspension of Canadian Gymnastics Coach

EDMONTON – Michel Arsenault has been suspended by Gymnastics Canada amidst allegations of sexual assault.

It was reported by CBC’s French-language network that Arsenault allegedly sexually assaulted three minors in Quebec during the 1980’s and early 90’s.

Arsenault is one of the gym’s co-owners and they claim to be “Edmonton’s only Olympic women’s gymnastics coaches.”

Gymnastics Canada said “no athlete should be subject to this type of conduct” and that they will be working to get to the bottom of these allegations and have started implementing more extensive background checks and training.

No charges have been laid against Arsenault.
