Weyburn, Saskatchewan has become the latest community to issue a warning about Cocaine laced with Fentanyl.
Local police sent out a tweet saying the potentially lethal drug combination has turned up in the southeastern city. Three people have died recently in Saskatoon from drug overdoses and two men died in Maidstone last week from suspected overdoses.
“Cocaine has been a staple drug..”
Deputy chief of police Rod Stafford told CBC news that because of the drugs circulating in Saskatoon, their team wants to make sure that it doesn’t start spreading into Weyburn.
“We’re no different than any other area of the province. Cocaine has been a staple drug, if I can use that term, here for a number of years,” he said.
Police are asking anyone who may have purchased illegal drugs and suspects it contains fentanyl to turn it in without fear of arrest or prosecution.
