A Father from Drayton Valley is facing several charges after he left his two month old baby in the back seat of a vehicle, while he drank in a bar.

After a significant amount of time in the bar, the driver ended up telling a witness that he had a child him. The uneasy citizen went out to check the vehicle, finding the baby cold and in distress.

RCMP said at roughly 10:30 p.m. officers received a complaint call of a suspicious impaired driver in the town of Calmar. It is believed that the man left the bar in the vehicle, driving away before officials had the chance to arrive.

The baby was later taken to the Leduc hospital where the mother arrived. The 2 month old child did not experience any vital injuries.

The father has since been arrested and is charged with many offences, such as abandoning a child, impaired operation of a vehicle and causing a child to be in need of intervention.

The identity of the accused has not been released.
