Tiger Woods has claimed the fifth green jacket of his career after winning the Masters at Augusta National this past Sunday.
“It’s overwhelming, because of what has transpired. Last year I was lucky to be playing again. ”
The future hall of fame golfer has had to deal with a series of career-threatening injuries dating back to 2008 including three major back surgeries.
Coming into the tournament, Woods had not won a major tournament on the PGA Tour since 2008 when he won the U.S. Open with a torn ACL.
“It’s overwhelming, because of what has transpired. Last year I was lucky to be playing again. At the previous champions dinner I was really struggling. To now be the champion. Unreal for me to experience this. I couldn’t be more happy and excited. I’m at a loss for words.” said Woods following his win at the 2019 Masters.
He now sits just one tournament win shy of Sam Snead’s record for most career wins in PGA history with 81 and three wins back of Jack Nicklaus’ record for most major championship wins with 15.
