Mounties were trying to locate a suspect in a mischief case by door knocking inside an apartment building in Flin Flon, Manitoba.
Upon searching, the officers claim a dog began to bark at them. When the officers asked for someone to restrain the animal, and no action was taken, they say the dog then lunged towards them. That’s when the officer shot and killed the dog.
“It broke me. I’m broken. I died — I died inside.”
The dog’s owner Josh Nickerson is disputing the Mountie’s story, saying his friend was holding the dog when the officer opened fire. Nickerson says “It broke me. I’m broken. I died — I died inside.”
The independent investigation unit is monitoring the case.
